Days away from one the largest gatherings of its kind at Lake Tahoe, the annual Lake Tahoe Women’s Wellness Weekend at Granlibakken Lodge & Conference Center Nov. 9-10, offers a full line up of women’s health professionals and nationally known speakers.
Last-minute registrations are being accepted for the event, which features a weekend filled with discussions ranging from heart health, food and fitness to inspirational stories designed to improve lives.
Health care professionals can earn up to nine hours of continuing education credit for attending.
For over two decades, the Women’s Wellness Weekend has attracted women of differing ages, body types and physical abilities to benefit from Western medicine and Eastern teachings in comfortable and non-threatening surroundings. Informative seminars on health, nutrition and aging mix easily with interactive clinics on skin screenings, body/muscle testing and acupuncture. Inspirational and recreational activities along with food and wine receptions also help unite body and soul.
The weekend’s physical activities include daily morning yoga sessions and walks along Granlibakken’s 74-acre trails before breakfast. Returning this year is Tahoe City’s Tim Schroeder, a nationally recognized leader in Ki Gong. He will lead a session in this gentle workout defined by breathing, posture and meditation. Robert Ayres will again be offering astrological chart readings.
Retail therapy, combined with a wine and cheese reception, end Saturday’s sessions as local artists and health-oriented businesses offer items ranging from healing stones to jewelry and specialty-crafted woolens.
The “grand finale” interactive Health Fair closes the Wellness Weekend on Sunday afternoon. Acupuncture treatments, body scans and therapeutic massages list high among the activities. A concluding high-energy Zumba Party is the final sendoff.
Event-only registration costs $109, (lunch included) for some seminars additional fees apply. To register, visit Granlibakken’s website. Use “www2013” as group ID and password. Grab a girlfriend and stay for $174/person double occupancy per person (rate includes conference fee and tax). Dinner Saturday night is available on site for an additional fee of $25.
Attendees are invited to explore Granlibakken’s Day Spa with three treatment rooms and a number of wellness packages aimed at revitalization and relaxation, including customized and deep tissue massage, hot stone therapy, pre-natal, reiki healing and couples massages.
Guests can arrive a day early and challenge their abilities physically and mentally on the Treetop Adventure Park. The adventure course, voted the No. 1 Tahoe Activity by TripAdvisor, combines the latest technology of zip lines with challenging ropes courses to provide the first of its kind in California and among only 30 in the U.S.
