(Tahoe City, Calif.) – Granlibakken Resort & Lodge at Lake Tahoe (http://www.Granlibakken.com) has a Thanksgiving tradition that keeps families coming back: quality time for outdoor recreation along with a five course, homemade holiday feast without stepping foot in the kitchen.
The banquet includes roasted turkey carved tableside, traditional stuffing, mashed potatoes, yams, cranberries, vegetables and variety of desserts. Keeping its European roots and hospitality in mind, the resort will also wrap any leftovers for turkey sandwiches the next day. Vegetarian options are also available.
Thanksgiving lodging packages start at just $95 per person, per night for a family of four in a one-bedroom, two- bath suite with fireplace. The deal includes overnight accommodations, a hot buffet breakfast and Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. Additional lodging nights are at the standard mid-week rates per room versus per person. Lodging options include rustic lodge rooms, studios and condos from one to five-bedrooms.
During the day, Granlibakken’s 74 forested acres offer a ski and sledding hill, snowshoeing or swimming. The resort’s onsite rental shop has all the gear families need for winter fun at Lake Tahoe. There’s also the adventure at Tahoe’s nearby ski resorts or a stroll or shopping spree through Tahoe City, just a mile away. At night, relax by the fireplace, play family games, or look up to count a billion stars you can’t see in the city.
“It’s the holiday memories that have families returning annually to Granlibakken,” said Kay Williams, general manager. “It’s a return to simpler times but with all the modern comforts and amenities. Plus the Thanksgiving dinner rivals Grandma’s.”
Granlibakken also hosts other holiday events as well. The Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade includes caroling and a visit from Santa with gifts, cookies and hot chocolate for the kids, a popular Christmas buffet dinner and New Year’s Eve party for guests. Summer events include a Memorial Day Celebration and 4th of July Barbeque.
In addition to its longtime family appeal and notoriety for hosting the 1932 Olympic Ski Jumping Trials, Granlibakken has 200 rooms and conference and meeting space for groups of four to 400. With the recent expansion of the Executive Lodge, Granlibakken now features 24,405 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor meeting space and 16 meeting rooms equipped with high speed wireless internet and other modern business amenities.
