This 10.2 mile out-and-back moderately-challenging trail is accessible from the Spooner Lake trail area and is a popular place for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and birding. Marlette Lake is the southern access to the famous scenic Flume Trail.

Marlette Lake served as a major water source for Virginia City's mining operations in the late 1800s. Water was transported from this high alpine lake to the Virginia City mines by a series of flumes, pipelines, and siphons.
